LUKOIL Lubricants Central Asia, representing the LUKOIL lubricants business in Kazakhstan, has signed the first oil supply agreement with Kazakhmys Holding.
The company will provide lubricants for the mining machinery and special automotive equipment, operating at Karaganda, Balkhash and Zhezkazgan production sites. By the end of 2019, LUKOIL will have delivered more than 1,000 tons of engine, transmission, hydraulic and industrial oils.
Kazakhmys Holding is one of the world’s leading copper producers, and Kazakhstan’s largest mining and metallurgical company. Its diverse portfolio also includes the power generation business, which is run by one of Kazakhmys subsidiaries. LUKOIL and Kazakhmys Holding launched their partnership in 2018 by signing a memorandum on joint study of promising projects in the renewable energy sector in Kazakhstan. The agreement on the supply of oils marks the beginning of a new significant stage of cooperation between the two companies.
LUKOIL has become a technology partner of the CNH Industrial machine-building giant by localizing in Russia production of the specialized NEXPRO lubricants line. These oils have been developed at the request of CNH Industrial with regard to design parameters, as well as features of the operation of modern trucks, agricultural and construction machinery under IVECO, CASE, NEW HOLLAND brands.
The NEXPRO product line features eight types of oils – motor, transmission, hydraulic and universal tractor oils. They will be manufactured according to CNH Industrial formulations at LUKOIL plants in Perm and Tyumen.

CNH Industrial is a world leader in engineering, designing, production, distribution, after-sales services, as well as commercial and financial activities in international markets around the world. The holding comprises 12 brands and manufactures products for agriculture and industry, including tractors and combine harvesters; trucks and buses; transmission solutions for road, off-road and marine vehicles. The Group’s manufacturing and product development encompasses 66 factories and 53 R&D centers around the world.
LUKOIL Company has implemented a new technology for manufacturing engine and industrial oils and reformulated a number of product lines using its own high-index base oils of API Group II. Since their industrial introduction, the modern technologies for production of Group II base oils have quickly earned recognition and are becoming increasingly popular throughout the world.
Starting from July, the Group II base oils will be used to produce more than 40 types of LUKOIL motor, hydraulic and industrial oils. These oils will replace Group I base oils that were used notably in production of a number of LUKOIL products such as AVANTGARDE, LUXE and SUPER engine oils, as well as GEYSER hydraulic oils. Up until now, the Company has only used LUKOIL Group I and III+ base oils in product formulations.
The results of research and numerous test runs conducted at the Company's plant in Volgograd demonstrate that LUKOIL’s Group II base oils possess enhanced low-temperature properties, lower evaporation and are more resistant to oxidation than Group I base oils:
• 40% better oxidation resistance (protection against deposits in the engine);
• 30% better low temperature properties;
• 10% lower evaporation
The transition of LUKOIL products to new formulas will help bring the quality of finished lubricants to a higher level.
LUKOIL Lubricants Company and Ural Mining and Metallurgical Company (UMMC) have signed a program to conduct joint tests of LUKOIL engine oil in UMMC's fleet of diesel locomotives owned by a number of UMMC subsidiaries.
The locomotives that were produced and upgraded by the Shadrin automotive components factory (which is part of UMMC) will undergo two rounds of trials, each lasting 1,750 hours. The locomotives will test the AVANTGARDE ULTRA М3 15W-40 engine oil, one of LUKOIL's newly-developed products. This oil will be used in the ТEМ2-UMMC, ТGM4B-UMMC and ТGM6-UMMC series of locomotives fitted with Cummins diesel engines.
The goal of the trials is to confirm the AVANTGARDE ULTRA М3's guaranteed service interval.
The AVANTGARDE ULTRA М3 15W-40 engine oil is designed primarily for use in machinery operating under difficult conditions and requiring longer drain intervals. Besides providing a reliable engine start in wintertime thanks to its excellent low-temperature properties, the product also possesses high-level antiwear and detergent properties that help minimize engine deposits and ensure its cleanliness. All of these properties will stimulate efficiency and productivity growth as the machinery downtime gets reduced.

Ural Mining and Metallurgical Company is Russia's largest copper, zinc, coal and precious metals producer. The holding includes over 40 Russian and foreign companies operating in mining, coal, metals and mechanical engineering sectors.
Since 2007, LUKOIL has been one of the key suppliers of engine, transmission, hydraulic and industrial oils to UMMC companies.
LUKOIL has launched the servicing program at Raspadsky, EVRAZ’s broad-scale surface coal mine. The company will supply a mobile servicing station to Razrez Raspadsky (part of Raspadskaya Coal Company of EVRAZ Group). The custom-built station will facilitate efficient change of lubricants and specialty fluids used in the machinery.
The mobile station has tanks for storage of new engine, gear, and hydraulic oils, anti-freezes and greases, as well as spent oil. It provides for onsite change of working fluids in dump trucks and excavators, reducing risks of forced machinery breakdowns.
EVRAZ is one of the world’s largest metals and mining companies with assets in Russia, the United States, Canada, the Czech Republic, Italy and Kazakhstan. The Group has been using LUKOIL lubricants since 2007.

LUKOIL Marine Lubricants, the company representing LUKOIL’s global marine oils business, has received two prestigious industry awards for introducing innovative solutions in maritime shipping. The jury of the Fifth Annual Maritime Standard Awards has named LUKOIL Marine Lubricants the winner in the Technical Innovations category for developing and enhancing the iCOlube intelligent cylinder oil lubrication system. The company team has also received the Dubai Maritime Innovation Award at the Dubai Maritime Summit for their pioneering efforts to advance creativity and innovation in the UAE maritime sector.
LUKOIL was the first lubricant supplier in the market to identify and react to a new concern of engine manufacturers that the 40 BN lubricants available in the market did not seem to provide sufficient detergency to handle 0.1% and 0.5% fuels. Offering a solution to this problem up to 2020 and beyond, LUKOIL Marine Lubricants launched NAVIGO MCL Extra in May 2017, a 40 BN marine cylinder oil for distillate, ultra-low sulphur fuel oil (<0.1%S) and very low sulphur heavy fuel oil applications.
iCOlube®, LUKOIL Marine Lubricants’ on-board unit for intelligent cylinder oil lubrication, tailors the alkalinity reserve of the cylinder oil in use to engine load and fuel. The feed rate does not have to be adjusted. It always stays at optimum level while only the fuel sulphur content needs to be entered. This maintains the engine in best condition, reduces oil costs, saves fuel, is environmentally friendly and ensures easy and time-saving engine operation.
“We are very honoured and grateful to receive this appreciation of our work. Our products and solutions have been a result of listening and reacting to the needs and requirements of our customers and the industry as a whole. Winning these awards confirms that within just ten years of operation we have already positioned ourselves as a technology leader,” noted LUKOIL Marine Lubricants Director June Manoharan.
